Street Team!!

Sherri’s Shenanigans is Live!!!

As my little publishing empire grows (picture me snorting and rolling my eyes), it occurs to me that I could use some help. A lot of help, actually, but since none of you are probably therapists, we’ll stick to marketing help and street teams.

I’ve actually gotten fairly good at doing the dirty work of book marketing all by myself, but I realized that I’d get ever-so much more actual writing done if I didn’t spend tons of time trying to sell the books I already have. Which is where a street team comes in handy.
What is a street team? I’m so glad you asked! A street team is a group of readers who are dedicated to helping promote a particular author’s books. In this case, mine.

Why should you join? For the awesome perks, of course! As a member, you’ll receive:
*Exclusive peeks at upcoming releases. Teasers and tidbits not available to the general public.
*Free ARCs (Advanced Reader Copy) of upcoming releases. (These are available to my beta readers only, and if you’re interested, feel free to contact me.)
*Member’s first peek at new covers before they’re revealed to the general public.
*Membership to my Facebook group, Sherri’s Shenanigans. It’s an incredibly fun place to be!
*The chance to win (every month) either an Amazon gift card, or the Ebook of your choice!
*Special drawings for free swag and other goodies. (Not just from me, but some of my author cronies, too!)
*Last, but never least… my everlasting gratitude and affection! (For whatever that happens to be worth, lol.)

Sound good to you so far? Awesome! So what does a street team member do?
*Participate, of course:) Like and share my promotions. Share other authors promotions, too. There’s more than enough love to go around, and we all like good book recommendations.
*Promote (especially during release time and during free promotions). This can include tweeting with provided tweets or ones you create yourself. Sharing posts on Facebook and other social media (Google+, Tumblr, Instagram, Goodreads, Pinterest, Blogs, Websites, etc.) Whatever form of social media you happen to use is fine.
*Participate in pimping contests. As I mentioned before, I have author friends, and they’d love to meet you, too!
*Provide an honest review on Amazon. Paste your review on Goodreads and Barnes & Noble, too. (If you don’t mind.) Reviews aren’t mandatory, but they’re certainly appreciated! Your review doesn’t have to be long, just heart-felt. They help my books gain traction, and I really love to see them.
*Spread the word to your family, friends, local library, and bookstores. Shout it the mountain tops! I can use all the help I can get!
*If you do even one of these things it will be an incredible help to me. If you do all of these things, I may name a character after you! (One I solemnly swear not to kill off.)

What DOESN’T a street team member do?
*NEVER respond to a negative review of any of my books. I can’t do it, and neither can my peeps. Sorry. It just looks unprofessional. People don’t have the same taste in books sometimes, or maybe they’re having an off day. In any case, don’t do it. Take a deep breath and step away from the laptop!
*NEVER “sell” my books to people in an aggressive or offensive manner. I love enthusiasm, but nobody likes a hard sell. So no grabbing anyone by the scruff of the neck and shoving a book under their nose! (I’ve tried it a couple of times. It wasn’t pretty.)
*NEVER harass the other street team members. It’s just not cool. We want to have fun with this, not feel like it’s a full-time job. And certainly we don’t want to deal with someone who can’t get along with everyone else.
*NEVER harass another author’s work, street team, etc. Again, not cool. Indie authors are a fairly tight-knit group. There are more than enough readers to go around. Be respectful. I encourage the promotion of other authors, in fact. We can all use as much help as we can get.

***Disclaimer: I reserve the right to remove any street team members who do not comply with the above guidelines.***

Now, if all of that sounds good to you, I’d very much like to hear from you.
Thank you for your support!
